Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave 92.5 / 96.5 FM
Broadcast Times 12:30pm & 5:30pm M - F

Flag stiffening winds will continue today in the Owens Valley and Mammoth as pressure gradients along the Sierra Crest refuse to relax. These winds should subside a bit later later today into Friday. Otherwise, high pressure is building in, giving us warmer temperatures and clear skies.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny and breezy with warmer temperatures. Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 30s. North wind 10 - 15 mph.

Today for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Sunny. Northwest wind 10 - 15 gusting to 25 in town and 60 mph over the Crest in the morning. Daytime temperature range 47 to 58 and lows 12 - 22.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Brilliant sunshine and still warmer. Daytime temperatures will be in the lower 70s and evening lows in the mid 30s. North wind around 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

Tomorrow for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Sunny and warmer. Temperature range 51 to 62 and lows 23 - 32. Northwest wind 10 - 15 with an occasional gusts of 30 mph in town.

On Saturday into Sunday a cold front will move across the Pacific Northwest and flatten the ridge, lowering the temps in our area a little and creating a few clouds. This is a dry front and skies should remain mostly clear with minimal chance of precipitation in the Owens Valley.
