Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley

A strong cold front moved through the High Country last night providing Mammoth with 8 - 12 inches of new snow and they can expect another 2-3 inches off and on today. The Owens Valley received high winds; Fort Independence recorded wind gusts of 52.3 mph, Bishop had gusts of 26.0 and the Alabama Hills had gusts of 41.0 mph. That system will move out of our area by tonight and into the 4-Corners Area on Wednesday.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly cloudy and breezy. Chance of rain and snow showers mainly over the mountains. Highs in the mid 50s and lows in the lower 30s. North wind 15 - 25 mph.

Today for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Mostly cloudy and breezy with scattered snow showers off and on through out the day. Northwest wind 10 - 15 gusting to 25 in town and 50 mph over the Crest. Daytime temperature range 30 to 40 and lows 12 - 20.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny and a little warmer. Daytime temperatures will be in the lower 60s and evening lows in the mid 30s. North wind 10 - 20 mph.

Tomorrow for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Sunny and warmer. Temperature range 35 to 45 and lows 15 - 25. Northwest wind 10 - 15 gusting to 50 mph over the Crest.

A modest ridge of high pressure will begin to build in on Wednesday and strengthen on Thursday through the weekend, giving us dry conditions and a warming trend.
