Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave 92.5 / 96.5 FM
Broadcast Times 12:30pm & 5:30pm M - F

Mainly sunny and locally windy today as the departing low migrates east and high pressure builds in. Mammoth Mountain saw gusts of 80 mph and Fort Independence 32 mph last night. Winds will gradually decrease through out the day in the High Country, but the Owens Valley will continue to be breezy through tomorrow.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies with peak daytime temperatures in the upper 60s and evening lows in the mid 30s. Northwest wind 10 -20 gusting to 35 mph.

Today for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Partly sunny in the morning to mostly sunny by the afternoon. Daytime temperature range 45 - 57 and evening lows 15 to 27. North wind 15 - 20 gusting to 75 mph over the Crest, decreasing later in the day.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny conditions. Highs in the lower 70s and lows in the upper 30s. Northwest wind 10 - 15 mph gusting to 25 mph.

Tomorrow for Mammoth and the Mono Valleys: Sunny. High temperature range 58 - 67 and lows 21 to 31. North wind 10 mph.

A dry and warmer pattern is still expected through the weekend as a Pacific ridge sets up over Central California. Right now it looks like that pattern will change on Monday night into Tuesday as a fast paced spring storm drives through our area, bringing cooler temperatures and the possibility of snow in the High Country and rain in the Owens Valley. Things look to be dry on Wednesday.
