Forecast for Mammoth & the Owens Valley

The first shortwave in the series is moving eastward. This system brought very light snow to mammoth, about 2 inches. The next system looks a little more impressive but the main activity will be on the western side of the Sierra's. Mammoth and the High country will still have a chance at some snow late tonight into Friday.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain tonight. High temperatures are expected to be in the lower 60s with evening lows in the mid 30s. There will be a south wind 10 mph in the afternoon.

Today for Mammoth: Mostly cloudy with a chance rain and snow in the afternoon and evening. Snow level will be around 8,000 feet today. Highs will be in the mid 40s and lows in the lower 20s. Southwest wind 10 - 20 gusting to 30 in town and as much as 90 mph over the Crest.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lows in the mid 30s. South wind 10 - 15 mph.

Tomorrow for Mammoth: Chance of rain and snow. Snow level will be around 7,500 feet. Highs will be in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s. Southwest wind 10 - 15 and 40 mph over the Crest.

Another shortwave should pass through our area on Saturday and Sunday with good potential for moisture. Weak ridging should build in for drying conditions by mid week.
