High clouds are moving into our area ahead of an approaching storm system. An upper low over the Bering Sea is moving south and includes a series of shortwaves which will move over Northern and then Central California and into our area by weeks end.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy later in the day. Daytime highs will be in the upper 60s with lows around 30. Northwest wind 10 - 15 mph.

Today for Mammoth: Partly cloudy. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lows in the lower 20s. Gusty conditions late in the evening to 30 mph in town and 60 over the Crest.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly sunny with a good mix of high clouds. Highs will be in the low 60s and lows in the mid 20s. South wind 10 - 20 mph.

Tomorrow for Mammoth: Partly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow. Snow level will be around 6,500 feet in the evening. Highs will be in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 20s. Southwest wind 10 - 15 and 90 mph over the Crest.

Depending on how much sub-tropical moisture is fetched up in these shortwaves, there is good potential for a significant precipitation event Thursday through the weekend. I would not be surprised to see as much as 2 - 3 feet or more of snow in the upper elevations (above 8,000 feet) of the Sierra through this period and a good shot of rain in the Owens Valley.
