Vandalism and its rewards

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Vandalism and its rewards

Remember that idiot who thought it would be fun to leave her mark on national parks around the West?

Well, we're not sure she got what was coming to her---but they did catch up with her and she is sentenced to 200 hours of community service, two years probation, and a clean-up fee yet to be determined at a later hearing.

I had blissfully forgotten about her. Grrg..... it still makes my blood boil. Probably the most maddening thing to me, is I wonder if she even "get's it" and is remorseful for more than getting caught.

Here's another one: Andre the European graffiti artist gets fined for for vandalizing a boulder in Joshua Tree National Park:

An interesting thing about this case is that readers of the website Modern Hiker helped the Forest Service track him down:

After which Andre had his lawyer send Modern Hiker a threatening letter:
