Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Owens Valley / Mammoth Weather Forecast
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave 92.5 / 96.5 FM

An area of low pressure in the Eastern Pacific will make shore tonight and stall there causing a weakening in our ridge of high pressure. This will create increased cloud cover and lowering temperatures a bit by Saturday.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny blue skies with high temperatures in lower 60s and lows in the mid 20s. Northwest wind 10 mph.

Today for Mammoth: Clear skies. Highs will be in the low 50s and lows should be around 17. South wind 5 - 10 mph.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Clear skies becoming partly cloudy late with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the mid 20s. South wind 10 mph.

Tomorrow for Mammoth: Partly cloudy skies with daytime temps in the lower 50s and evening temps around 18. Southwest wind 10 mph.

A dry northwest flow ahead of a developing ridge on Saturday night should keep our area dry with some high clouds and temperatures to near normal.

Air quality in the Owens Valley remains GOOD; PM-10 levels at Fort Independence and Lone Pine for 8 am this morning are 6.57 and 11.13 ug/m3.
