Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Owens Valley / Mammoth Weather Forecast
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave 92.5 / 96.5 FM

The current upper level ridge of high pressure over the WC will break down slightly on Saturday as a very weak shortwave slides southward from the PAC NW, but there's not much moisture with this system so I expect only partly cloudy skies and dry conditions in the High Country and Owens Valley.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny blue skies with high temps in the mid 50s and low temps in the lower 20s. Northwest wind 10 - 15 mph.

Today for Mammoth: Clear skies. High temps in the mid to upper 30s and lows around 10. Wind light and variable to 15 mph.

Saturday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly clear with daytime temps in the lower 50s and nighttime temps in the lower 20s. Northwest wind 10 mph.

Saturday for Mammoth: Partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 30s and lows around 14. Wind will be light.

On Sunday the WC high pressure ridge amplifies and dry conditions over the Owens Valley and Mammoth will prevail through at least next Friday and most likely through the end of January. We will get a gradual warming trend through this period as well.
