4.8 Earthquake Big Pine

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Centered 7 miles of Big Pine, wonder how many avalanches were triggered by it in the Palisades area.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Funny story about this, I've lived in California for nearly all my life, been around people that felt earthquakes and this was the first time I felt one personally. It gave us a pretty good shape in Visalia, as I was about to start roll for my class that afternoon. The 4.3 aftershock about 20 minutes later was in mid-lecture and it made for a pretty funny distraction.

I hope there wasn't any issues with Winter explorers out there, It'd be a little disconcerting.
