we need proactive fire prevention funds. Not waiting until the blow-ups and inability to fight the massive fires.

Kind of like what we're all asked to do: create a safe perimeter around our houses. Control burns during the wetter months for the wild-lands and put in the control lines before fire season. This would be cheaper in my opinion, but this Govt seems to wait until disaster mode. sigh.

All the proposal does is change the source of the funding stream. The same amount of money from a different budget line item.

The agencies are about maxed out on the amount of prescribed burning they can do. Repeal the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, ESA, and NEPA and they could do more. Not likely to happen.

Also not is not just a federal lands problem. Two of the largest fires last year -- Valley and Butte fires -- started on state protection lands.

I have experience with FEMA auditors trying to micromanage firefighting. They were literally escorted out of one Incident Command Post by security personnel after the IC threatened them if the did not leave. They are not well regarded by fire managers.
