Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Owens Valley / Mammoth Weather Forecast
Provided by Dennis Mattinson
Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave

The upper level low which caused snow showers in Mammoth and high winds everywhere is moving southeastward today into the Great Basin. It leaves behind very cold tempertures which will linger until Wednesday, with Saturday and Sunday mornings being the coldest. So, duck tape the cracks in those windows tonight.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Clearing skies with continued low temperatures. High temps today will only be in the mid 30s with lows in the mid single digits. A northwest wind 15 -20 mph will bring the chill factor way down to 0 degrees late this evening into Saturday morning.

Today for Mammoth: Mostly cloudy with snow showers for Mammoth and the High Country this morning, turning to isolated snow showers in the afternoon. High temps in the low 30s and lows down to 10 below zero. Northwest wind 10 - 15 gusting to 30 mph.

Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies with high temps in the upper 30s and lows in the lower single digits. Northwest wind 10 - 15 mph.

Tomorrow for Mammoth: Sunny with daytime temps in the low 30s and nightime temps to 5 below zero. Northwest wind 10 - 15 mph.

An upper ridge builds into the west coast Monday, giving us a very gradual warming trend and fair skies through Thursday.
