Owens Valley / Mammoth Weather Forecast

Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave
A couple of cold fronts are moving into our area over the next few days. The first should arrive latter today and be preceded by high clouds. The second brings with it an artic air mass and should arrive late Thursday. As of now, moisture for each of these fronts is limited and I expected only snow showers in the High Country. The Owens Valley could see flurries on Thursday night. The main issue with the second front is the very cold air and wind which will bring chill values down to dangerous levels in the High Country on Thursday night/Friday morning.
Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly cloudy with high cirrus during the day turning to mostly cloudy this evening. High temps in the mid 50s and lows in the mid 20s. Light and variable wind during the day then south wind 10 -15 mph this evening.
Today for Mammoth: Partly cloudy and windy. Southwest wind 15 -25 in the afternoon gusting to 50 mph in town and +80 over the Crest. Chance of light snow in the evening. High temps in the low 40s and evening temps in the lower teens.
Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Mostly cloudy and colder. A slight chance of rain during the day changing to a chance of light snow after midnight. Snow level will be at 4,000 feet. High temps in the lower 40s and lows in the lower teens.
Tomorrow for Mammoth: Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. High temps in the mid 20s and low temps down to - 10 degrees below zero. West wind 10 - 15 gusting to 50 mph over the Crest.
Clearing conditions by Friday night, but continued very cold temperatures at least through Monday.
