Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave

The High Wind Warning for our area has been CANCELLED. The next trough due in later tonight into Saturday has lost much of its dynamics, most of which have either gone north or south of our area. Still, there will be a chance of rain and snow in the Valley and scattered snow showers in Mammoth and the High Country through out the weekend.

Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly to mostly cloudy with breezy conditions in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s and lows will be in the mid 20s.

Today for Mammoth: Mostly cloudy and breezy. Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph gusting to 45 mph. There is a chance of snow showers during the day with snow levels at 8,500 feet, lowering to 7,000 feet in the evening. High temperatures will be in the low 40s and lows in the mid teens.

Saturday for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Partly cloudy, breezy and cold. There will be a chance of rain and snow showers in the afternoon. The snow level will drop down to 5,000 feet in the evening. High temperatures will be in the mid 40s and lows in the upper teens. North winds 15 – 25 gusting to 30 mph in the evening.

Saturday for Mammoth: Mostly cloudy with a chance of scattered snow showers. High temperatures will be in the mid 30s and lows in the upper teens. Northwest winds 10 – 15 mph.

On Sunday there is a continued chance of scattered snow showers in Mammoth and the Owens Valley. Temperatures will be slow to recover with lows dropping down to the low single digits in Mammoth and the mid teens in the Valley. Dry conditions will prevail starting on Monday.
