Owens Valley / Mammoth Weather Forecast

Forecast Specialist for the Sierra Wave

The high pressure ridge that has been over the Eastern Pacific will stay in place until about Wednesday. This will continue to give our area dry and stable conditions.
Today for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Sunny skies with high temps in the upper 50s. Evening temps will be in the mid teens. Winds will be light and variable out of the northwest.
Today for Mammoth: Mostly clear with afternoon temps in the low 50s. Nighttime temps will be in low teens and winds will be light and variable.
Tomorrow for Bishop & the Owens Valley: Afternoon temps will be in the upper 50s with light wind. Evening temps will see the mid teens with light wind.
Tomorrow for Mammoth: Daytime temps will be in the upper 40s / low 50s and evening temps will be in the low teens. Winds once again will be light.
As of right now, the models show a change in our weather pattern starting on Friday. The current high will break down and move east, as a low pressure system drops south from the Gulf of Alaska. Friday night will see the first of two potential troughs moving into our area, with a chance of snow in the High Country. While Sunday, a second and more powerful trough will move through, giving us a better chance of snow in Mammoth and the High country. Exact timing of these two troughs still not locked in, so stay tuned for forecast changes.
