Mt. Shasta area suggestions?

Besides climbing Mt. Shasta, anyone have any suggestions on hikes or other points of interests. I'm heading up to Mt. Shasta Resort for a CA. Cooperative Snow Survey Conferance and have never spent any time in this neck of the woods. I wish there was more snow!
