Sierra Word Associations

Grab your bear can or camp chair, kick your feet up and chew the fat about anything Sierra Nevada related that doesn't quite fit in any of the other forums. Within reason, (and the HST rules and guidelines) this is also an anything goes forum. Tell stories, discuss wilderness issues, music, or whatever else the High Sierra stirs up in your mind.

Sierra Word Associations

Post by maverick »

What are the first places in the Sierra that pop into your mind, without thinking, when
you read the following words:

Mountain/Peak/Dome/Range: Devil's Crags

Lake: Bench Lake

Meadow: Simpson Meadow

River: Kings River

Fish: Golden Trout

Hell: Kendrick Canyon/Lower Goddard Creek

Trees: White Mountain

Remote: Enchanted Gorge

Flowers: High Trail (Minarets)

Rock: McGee Canyon/Goddard Creek

Falls: Silver Spray Falls

Basin: Kaweah Basin

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

You left off bugs, snails and fresh-water clams.

Virgina Lake? Would have bet it was going to be P, HB, or M Lake! :\
Flowers, Whitesides Meadow has fields of Lupine and Mules Ears, and can be one of the
best shows for wildflowers gardens in the Sierra.
