Hiking clubs in San Francisco Bay Area

Can anyone recommend a club that concentrates primarily on Class 2 hikes, with 1 & moderate 3 thrown in for good balance? Both hikes and training are desireable. Preferred location would be San Francisco Bay Area, but hikes could be outside of SFBA, of course. The big problem is, I don't want heavily political organizations.
I've found one club like that in Washington (they've got lots of interesting classes), but they do not extend to California. Here I've looked at the California Mountaineers, but they appear to concentrate primarily on technical rock climbing.
I will appreciate any pointers.
