Forecast Discussion: Closed low set to move east on Friday into Saturday. Precipt. and thunderstorm activity a strong chance (50%) over the southern portion of the Sierras and Owens Valley. High clouds and possible chance of thunderstorms as far north as Mammoth. This is a fairly warm system, so snow levels will be quite high @ ~10,000 feet for the High Country.

Today & Tomorrow: Thursday, we can expect slightly warmer temps (+2 – 4 degrees) in the Owens Valley with mostly clear skies. Evening temps will be 38 - 47 and afternoon temps are expected to be 67 – 73. On Friday, the Owens Valley can expect mostly cloudy skies with temps dipping down to 62 – 68 for the afternoon and 32 – 41 for the evening. For Mammoth and the High Country today, daytime temps will be 60 - 68 and evening temps 22 – 32. Gusty conditions over the Crest @ 34 - 45 mph. On Friday, mostly cloudy conditions will prevail with evening temps 22 – 31 and daytime temps 58 – 67. Gusty conditions will continue over the Crest @ 25 – 35 mph.

Outlook: Low pressure departs Saturday night into Sunday. Chance of showers continuing into Sunday morning. Dry weather is expected for the first part of next week.

For those who are planning a trip into the Upper Elevations this weekend, expect possible thunderstorm activity and a chance of snow + 9,000 feet Friday night into Sunday morning.
