Local Owens Valley & High Sierra Forecast

Today & Tomorrow: Developing low still set to move through our area tonight into Thursday. This low now looks less impressive than it did yesterday and no Winter Storm Watch has been set for the Eastern Sierra. Still, there is a good chance of snowfall (~6 inches) over the crest and into the Upper elevations (+10,000 feet) through Thursday. The High Country (8,000 feet) can expect 2-3 inches by Thursday afternoon. Today, the High Country will see cloudy skies with isolated T-Storms and highs in the mid 50s. This evening, winds will pick up and temps will drop down to the low/mid 30s. Gusty conditions over the Crest to +60 mph and in the High Country to +30 mph. The Owens Valley will experience partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid 70s, with windy conditions to +20 mph. Tonight, the Valley will see temps drop down the mid 40s. For Thursday, the High Country can expect daytime temps in the upper 40s with scattered showers with gusty conditions through the evening. The Owens Valley will have afternoon temps in the upper 60s with breezy conditions.
Outlook: Partly cloudy skies with a chance of showers will prevail Friday and Saturday in both the High County and Owens Valley. There is some uncertainty as to Sunday and Monday, but right now it looks like mostly clear with temps rebounding to near normal.

Offshore low pressure system both weakening and slowing down. There is still a good chance of light snow in the upper elevations above 10,000 feet (~3-6 inches) and a dusting in the high country at 8,000 feet (~1-2 inches), Wednesday night into Thursday. Owens Valley should see little or no precipt. There will be a chance of Isolated T-Storms in the High Country later today and tonight. Winds will pick up ahead of the low and the Crest will see + 50 mph; High Country +30mph; the Valley +20 mph.
