My friend had to cancel last minute so I went anyway. I only got 3.5 hrs of sleep, but felt good, and bagged Mt Barcroft on the way down.

Hi, Nice pics and an interesting trip. I've been up to White Mtn a couple of times and each time I tentatively planned on hitting Barcroft on the way back, but never seemed to have quite enough energy in my reserve.

The pics of the baby bird are excellent. I'm not an expert, but I think it is a grouse chick. I would bet that mommy and/or daddy grouse weren't far away and, also, nearly invisible.

I've always wanted to do Barcroft on the way back too, but altitude always kicked my butt. This time I felt great, so I went for it. Even with the side trip, this was my fastest time doing White Mtn. :D

Someone else mentioned "grouse" too. I love the little fluffy eyebrows on it. It was so cute!
