Tim Castle was on his way home (San Jose?) but weather over the Sierra did not look good, so he turned back and a few of us got a ride!

Lone Pine Peak and Whitney Ridge didn't look good for flying

Snow Nymph;
Some cool pictures, especially those while flying, and of Bob the cat. However, I like best the one "My Doctor Says I Need Glasses" - yes, I too have that problem, as does CD.
Cheers,
Herm

Haha! I got a good laugh out of that as well.
Love the International Scout in your group. Classic.

Looks like a cool outing Snowy, the plane ride, and sobe bombs look like
a lot of fun.
Nice cats, and like the pic of old blue eyes.
The clouds are my favorites.

Yeah, the eyesight is getting bad. I liked this custom t-shirt that my friend made for me:

This is a fun group, and a little different that what I do most of the year. Scott can finally get his jeep out now that his project is over, so we'll be doing some 4x4 offroading.

Blue eyes was pretty cool. Got a video of the Sobe bomb going off. Pretty cool.

But my eyesight is fine - I just like wine!
And another cool shirt that you have, Snow Nymph.

Wow. Great photos. Brings back so many thoughts of that wild land.

This year, spent 8 days in the beginning of April and a week in the beginning of Sept in DV. In April it was flower city. Did the Big Pine Rd. from Big Pine down and though the Last Chance Range, and climbed Last Chance Pk. Continued all the way out south (passing a myriad of desert 5-spot and primroses) past Badwater (had to see the fields of desert verbena), then backtracked up north and over to Lone Pine and the Alabama Hills (evening snow carpeted the landscape there).

In Sept, it was Whippoorwill Can, Waucumba Spr, Saline Valley and the hot springs, lower Last Chance Range, Grapevine Canyon and down the flood-ruined highway (needed major clearance in the 4x4) to Nelson Flat where we spent a great time at the Nelson Cabin amongst the tree yuccas. Had those air force jets buzzing us every day...
