WLD's first trip to Death Valley . . . we took him up his first DV summit benchmarked 'Death', camped near a ghost town, and the next day took him to Charlie Manson's hideout! WLD gave me lessons on driving offroad . . . got to air down and use the front and rear lockers! Whoo hooo!

Probably won't get the Goler Wash pics up til next week. . .

Next time you get up to Goler, take along a copy of "Helter Skelter" and read it aloud by the campfire. Better than any ghost story anyone could dream up; you'll definitely start hearing things in the desert night....

I'm going to get the book now. Barker Ranch was pretty cool!

WLD showed me how to drive the Rubi. Amazing what it can do! Can't wait to get my own! SnowDude's birthday is end of this month, so he'll be getting a lot of accessories for the Rubi!

In December the Goler Wash road was graded (only to the Death Valley boundary). Calhiker and Bishophiker rode their mountain bikes up there and had to carry it over the dry falls. http://community.webshots.com/photo/505 ... 2484vHoInr

The dry falls are now covered with dirt. http://community.webshots.com/photo/540 ... 7571vqfpQf

LOTS of history! I have to change a few captions. I got some more info from a guy that owned one of the mines, so I'll work on it as soon as I can!

The Webshots site is down for an important scheduled technical upgrade.

Guess I've got bad timing tonight.... :(

Dual lockers Snow Nymph? Killer rig. Dual T Cases too? Sounds like a rockcrawler machine to me! Did you drive the Rubicon yourself? Never been on the Rubi myself, but have seen my friends videos. One where the front diff explodes! Spider gear meltdown!

Love the Rubi! Amazing how it hugs the ground on those steep climbs! Yes, I drove it, with WLDs guidance. I had trouble letting go of the clutch in 4Low, couldn't believe how it moved! Felt like a rockcrawler.

Bought a compressor and deflaters, and have more on the list. WLD said these are money pits

Yeah, clutching in 4 low is a gentle touch, especially from a dead stop. Once out though, you just crawl along. Money pit could be an understatement.
