Anybody been to DV lately?

Post by SteveB »

I'm thinking about heading down the east side for a long photography weekend (next weekend), and was wondering if anyone's been to DV lately... Hoping to catch some flowers blooming out there!

Heading there myself this weekend (30 years in California, and I've never been to Death Valley!). Based on the reports here, the flowers should be pretty nice: http://www.calphoto.com/wflower.htm

Best of luck TT. From reports wildflower conditions are pretty decent north of Furnace Creek considering they haven't received too much rain. Don't be afraid to hike out trailess from the highway roadsides.

I'm imminently leaving down to the Amboy Crater thru Kelbaker Road region about 150 miles further south. Right now from what I've gleaned, they have the best wildflower conditions of any desert area. Might be just a few days or then again maybe more. I was down in the JT area a week ago when that peaked and twas superb. ...David

I've never been to DV. I think I flew over it before and that's the closest I've been haha. I will go someday when I plan my next rode trip.

Had a great trip. Went over Walker Pass, down to Red Rock Canyon, over to Death Valley, up to Bishop, then back down the eastside and home via Tehachapi Pass. More photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tomhilton/ ... 137371944/

Great shots, Tom! :)

Your link is broken, however. Might want to edit it to put the 'h' back in 'http://...' :)

Nice road trip! You got to see a lot in just a few days. Heading that way tomorrow!

I did get to see a lot. Lord knows I covered some territory--~1500 miles worth. ;) The nice thing about traveling alone is that you can be completely flexible, and take detours whenever you want to.

Have a great trip!
