I'm still having knee issues, :( so this is a weekend for lots of driving and easy hiking. I picked up a package at Whitney Portal and had a great breakfast, looked for my lost trekking poles from 2 weeks ago by Antelope Mtn, got a short hike in and placed a terracache by Sagehen Peak , lobster taquitos from Whoa Nellie Deli for dinner, got to see lots of fall colors, got to hike and drive in a snowstorm, got to use my rear lockers, spent time at the condo in Mammoth, and made it to camp south of Ridgecrest, over 400 miles of driving on Friday. (:)

Fun day!

Duane, I'm at 32K, just had my 30,000 mi check a few weeks ago. I bought this Nov 8 last year. Runs great!

The drive to where we hiked was only ~160 mi this weekend, but the drive on Fri brought total mileage to over 700 mi for the weekend.

Since we did desert hikes, I moved this to 'beyond the Sierra Nevada'.

My Civic only has 5000 on it now, got it last Nov., did the second oil change on it as it had been 6 months since it had been changed at around 2000 miles. The car was supposed to be my commuter car, it gets 40mpg. Woohoo. I have been selling so much firewood, that I have only been able to drive the old Toyota pu for quite awhile now. I put 20,000 on the pu last year so I cut back my bping a little this year. I have only gone 1000 miles less so far is all, not much of a savings.

5000! Great mileage! I have to change my oil every 6 weeks. :( and I get 19mpg on the highway. :( But its a great little home away from home, and comfortable. :D Especially in rain and snowstorms!

Klinker Mountain (4,562')

I met up with Trailtrekker, Mtflyer and Tom Gossett to hike Klinker Mtn (4,562'). This was a nice easy hike, and the knee did ok with the leisurely pace. The bonus was the pool on the hill.

Mtflyer went with us to check out the Steam Wells Petroglyphs. Later, Trailtrekker and I both of us had knee problems this weekend so this was a good time to check off a few drive up peaks from Zdon's book.
