Yeah...

It's not on our bucket list. It's on our Phuket list--things we will not do, ever.

Balzaccom, thanks for posting this link. It's a crazy mess up there and has been for many years. I commend the decision to close the mountain this year.

Thanks Paul,
I feel the same; in my case, a thing I will not do again ever. I went trekking up there alone in January, 1985 and still ran into more folks than I wanted to see while staying in Laboche- 20 or so trekkers. Crossed one valley over (valley leading to Cho Oyu) and met just one crazy Englishman. It's brilliant mountain country all around Nepal's Solu-Khumbu, and per usual- just off the main trails there's hardly a soul. (and if you make a point of traveling in the off-season, you'll do even better.)

You might happily run into these guys. Camped outside his house in very snowy cold weather.

Here we were the only honkies in town.

Ran into just two Swiss climbers in this upper valley. This image is an interesting contrast to the image of the line up Everest.

This movie showed up through the motorcycle portion of my genes. It does not take long for the motorcycle to become insignificant and the WOW factor sets in.
