The White Clouds look awesome. Quite a few fishing oriented trip reports. Larger fish seem to be in the off trail areas with Quiet Lake and Scree Lake being noted for bigger fish. Big Boulder Lakes are easier to access and fish reported to be small. Here's some background info:

I talked Chris into this loop yesterday, which I thought meant we were agreed on a destination, but Susan, this morning, backed out. Herding cats, herding cats!!

If I make the White Clouds, I will fill you in. OTW, may be exploring some place in the Sawtooths with Chris, who hates fish.

What a great trip and great fishing! Funny about those lake names. I was reading through the post and got to Vernon and Ardeth and initially wondered if a N Yosemite post was mixed in here.

Was going to save this drawing for a few days, but...

Some background first - we camped at Heart Lake, Sawtooths for 4 days fishing the many nearby lakes, (was supposed to be three but an extra day was required due to a full day of rain/ graupel... got down to 20º at night).
While I was drawing on shore, Mike went out on his raft looking for dinner fare. Alas, the best he could do was an 18" Cut, fat with shoulders...had to cut it in half to fit the pan, stuffed with a black olive oil paste, hot pepper flakes, and a few pepperoni slices - wrapped in foil and cooked over my MSR Windpro - tasty!

So, here is my version of the OldRanger, Sawtooth range, last week.

You guys really living the life, nice. Long ago as a twentysomething fisherman, bought the Sawtooth guidebook and ordered a pile of black and white at the time USGS preliminary topos for those areas because at the time the many blue lakes about such a remote wilderness were worth a lot of dreaming about. But Idaho remains on of the few states I've never set foot in.

I had a similar experience as a thirtysomething fisherman. I bought a Sawtooth guidebook and bought this topo map (like the JMW-Seki one) that covers all of Sawtooth wilderness. I drew up some preliminary plans for future trips, but I've never gotten there.
