Nelson Mtn (Galena) in the Nelson Range, and also Cerrusite Cabin and Buckhorn Cabin
PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/2155675

Left Torrance really late and drove to the trailhead in the dark, pulling over at 4am. I woke up at 8am, checked out the Cerrusite Cabin (door sign said Nelson Cabin) on the way to the trailhead. Cool views from the summit of this easy DPS peak, and a lot of DPS group entries in the register. I was the second one to sign in for 2006. On the drive out I stopped at the Boxcar Cabin (sign said Buckhorn).

Interesting area; do people live in these cabins year-round, or do they just visit in the winter? It seems strange to build a cabin out there and then stock it and not lock it! :-k Maybe someone has the story with these?

I see you got a pic of Keynot in there.

Nice FJ. :unibrow:

These are Adopt-A-Cabins. People clean them up and stay in them. Some are nice, some are rat infested (like the second one I saw below Galena). I think people leave stuff for the next group to use.

I  my FJ!
