Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier NP trip report

Post by LMBSGV »

This is a driving-car camp-lodge trip with no backpacking, but several day hikes. I took pages and pages of notes during the trip and found that writing them up was a good way to better embed the trip in my memory. Also, it was fun writing it up in a better organized form.

A big thank you to all who offered tips and suggestions on my original query post last January - BrianF, DriveFly44, Fly Guy Dave, dave54, PatrickQuin, Old Ranger, and Carne De.Muerto. They were a great help in both planning and while we were there. As the trip report makes clear, we had a great time and we want to go back (after we get to Denali, our other dream trip).

The trip report is here:

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Wow, I thought I was reading an e-book and would need to make payment. :)

Really enjoyed the well written trip report. But now, dang it, I have one more place on a long list of places to see thanks to your insights.

The final paragraph or two must have really made you want to turn the car around...

Thanks for the great write-up.

Shawn, that made me laugh since my real world job is as a book typesetter and I've been doing a lot of e-books lately. And, yes, as we were being detoured through the office parks of Vacaville, we joked about getting on I-80 east instead of west. It's gratifying to know you enjoyed the report.

That was a wonderful report..I wanted to let you know how much I very much enjoyed reading it..I on purpose took my time reading it..taking a few days and was sad when it was all over.

A little sad about at times all the people you two had to deal with..but it is YNP and Glacier. I love that you saw a Wolf...YNP Wolves are in trouble due to the recent hunting of Wolves in WY....all Wolves in WY are in trouble due to the hunting of them...They are safe in the boundary of the park..but once they leave the park they can be hunted and killed.

I have not yet been to these parks..hoping one day to see the beauty and the wildlife there.
Thank you again

Thank you, madeintahoe. I hope you get there someday. I want to go to Yellowstone in winter since it's my understanding seeing the Lamar Valley wolves is more common. Also, just to see that landscape and geyser basins covered in snow.
