Here, in the background, is Lake 11975 near LSA.

Regarding Puppet and the French Canyon Lakes - this is the excerpt of an email last year with Curtiss Miliron, DFG Fisheries Biologist:
French Canyon/Humphreys Basin = most all populations are stocked or are self-sustaining. Puppet is the only major lake that might get eliminated from stocking. This is because the only remaining frogs in the French Canyon part of the management unit are in Alsace. There is no way for us to improve conditions in Alsace for frogs. Puppet is the only option that has a fish barrier and is at the top of the that lake chain. We still stock three Royce lakes, Star, and Steelhead in that area. The rest are self-sustaining.
Paris fish might get fewer and larger since it was stocked up until 2000, but is now managed as self-sustaining. We will need to check on it soon to be sure. Alsace has not been stocked since 1994 and is self-sustaining. Cheveaux has not been stocked since 1976 and is strongly self-sustaining (SS). Moon and Elba were resurveyed in 2006 and are strongly SS with GT to 10 inches. L Lake is SS based on abundant spawning habitat, but has not been resurveyed.
All this may yet change with the EIR and the likely future listing of mountain yellow-legged frogs. But, these areas are already in management that includes restoration for frogs, and we are still stocking almost all of the great fisheries that require stocking to persist. As I mentioned above, Puppet may be the only major loss in all the areas you mentioned.

FISHING INFORMATION
The South Fork Kern River and Golden Trout Creek
drainages within the Golden Trout Wilderness are open
to fishing from the last Saturday in April to November
15. Only artificial lures with barbless hooks can be
used. The daily bag and possession limit is 5 trout. A
map of the California golden trout waters is shown on
the back of this leaflet. Rocky Basin, Johnson and
Chicken Spring Lakes are currently fishless, since the
non-native trout in these lakes have been removed.
Stocking of some of these lakes with genetically pure
California golden trout is proposed for the future.

Let's try to remain on topic here; adding to the accuracy of the list.

Working through things is fine, I'm just not interested in letting this take the place of the frogs vs. fish thread after having to lock that one down.

I would prefer to avoid having policy debates and the like on this thread, given that this is intended as a point of information on changes to High Sierra fisheries. This thread will not be as helpful to our readership if readers find the key information (on whether or not lakes have fish) buried beneath policy debates: we have multiple threads on which the policy debates have been aired. Posts regarding sources of information on policy, potential policy changes are relevant and welcomed on this thread, though, because they help guide readers to more information: and providing a portal for information, rather than editorial opinion, is what this thread is about.

Although one ought not hijack this thread into a general fish vs frog discussion, I do think it is appropriate to comment narrowly on what one thinks and how one feels about specific lakes on the electrozapping list.

Hoover Wilderness: of the paternoster lakes I fished...Lost Lake Helen, and by appearances Lake Ruth (Didn't fish Ruth but saw zero activity after fishing and camping at nearby Helen). There are other lakes that fish well in the area for brook and rainbow. The Goldens in Tower have been lost and that was confirmed w/ the Forest Service Ranger. It was, however, a stunning lake w/ one very comfortable campsite.

I heard Tower Lake was on the list. Thats unfortunate because it did have a nice population of goldens. I wonder if Grizzly lake is gone now too.
