Skiers and snowboarders everywhere are beginning to itch for the season's first real snow. It could happen this week in North Lake Tahoe, as area resorts prepare to open.

Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are scheduled to open the slopes November 18, Northstar-at-Tahoe November19.

The Resort at Squaw Creek's Magical Memories holiday program begins November 19 The celebrations include a production of Snow White by Sierra Nevada Dance, gingerbread village unveiling, grand lighting ceremony, pictures with Santa, ice skating, s'mores by the fire and Lady Margaret's Tea Party.

Foam Fest, a fundraiser for Tahoe Adaptive Ski Scholl, brings together 25 breweries and their micobrews for one of the area's liveliest pre-season get gatherings, November 19 at the Tahoe Biltmore.
