TAHOE CITY, CA - Spring is springing and while slope conditions resemble something from the peak of winter, the end is inevitably in sight for some North Lake Tahoe ski resorts while others will remain open through May.

Sierra Nevada ski resorts received a bounty of new snow through the first half of March and most will remain open through Easter. Granlibakken will close April 2; Royal Gorge Cross Country April 9; Diamond Peak, Boreal, Spooner Lake Cross Country and Tahoe Donner April 16; Northstar-at-Tahoe, Homewood Mountain Resort, Sugar Bowl, Mt Rose-Ski Tahoe and Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area April 23 and Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley May 29. The Resort at Squaw Creek Cross Country Ski Area and Donner Ski Ranch have no set closing dates. All dates are scheduled to change due to conditions.

"It's been an outstanding season that's still going strong," Andy Chapman, tourism director for the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, said. "With Alpine and Squaw open through Memorial Day, visitors still have two months to hit the slopes."

North Lake Tahoe is a 45-minute drive from the Reno Tahoe International Airport, two hours from Sacramento International Airport and just over three hours from San Francisco International Airport. For lodging reservations and event details, contact the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, the area's largest reservation center, at 1-800-824-6348 or visit http://www.PureTahoeNorth.com. The visitor's information center in Tahoe City is located at 380 North Lake Boulevard.
