Seemed like a lot of roads were closed (June Lake Loop and Hwy 120 east), so I hiked what I could. Walked around the Tufa Towers, but GPS said 1.5 mi. so I headed over to Panum Crater and hiked the 3 high points, which added another 2 miles.

Originally wanted to hike in the southern Glass Mountains, but the roads to get there had deep snow, and being solo, I didn't want to get stuck. So after trying a few roads, I went to Convict Canyon to snowshoe

Day 11: Sierra
Monday, 31 December 2007
Rush Creek Snowshoe

PHOTOS: http://snownymph.smugmug.com/gallery/4101648#239122127

SnowDude wanted to do a snowshoe trip, so we went to Rush Creek. We got just past the tram, which was too steep with only snowshoes, and the trail just past it was covered with snow and had more exposure than we were comfortable. So we took a lunch break, then headed back. We forgot about making reservations for dinner, and ended up waiting two hrs at Nevados, but made friends with Scott and Rebecca, owners of Alapay Winery, and ended up having dinner with them.

So for 2007 I summitted 124 peaks (1/2 doz were practically drive-ups, less than 2 mi), and my streak of consecutive weekends is still going (102 last weekend). For those that count months, its at ~120 months right now. I missed 9 weekends during the 10 years, but still got to hike at least 1 day of those missed weekends. On my way to the desert for another great weekend out!
