have to watch the commercial.
Show is called Disappeared and the episode is "Radio Silence" (Season 5, Episode 8).

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

For probably obvious reasons, I had stayed away from this for quite awhile. But I finally watched it (even though I -- very reluctantly -- participated in the production) and it's actually not bad. Just saw it the other day:

I've been reluctant to comment on this due to the actual individuals portrayed, but now that George has commented, I'll add my two cents. My wife and I watched this after downloading and burning to DVD. Since we were expecting the Discovery Channel/TV reality show stuff (re-enactments, the actor portraying Randy fading/disappearing, etc.) we were pleasantly surprised by it. I have to say the actor portraying George only vaguely resembles him - and this is meant as compliment. If you watch the show and see the real George or have met him in the backcountry, you'll understand what I mean. I got a kick out of seeing Laurie Church as one of the other major interview subjects since I've run across her a few times, including one time, we had a rather long conversation - a remarkable person. I recommend this as long as you watch it with the understanding that this is a commercial TV production and, thus, with the inherent shortcomings.
I don’t need a goal destination. I need a destination that meets my goals.
