Inyo SAR Incident 8/17

Post by maverick »

Inyo Co Sheriff's Dept:
After summiting Mt. Whitney, a hiker sustained a lower leg injury on the descent approximately four miles from the Whitney Portal. @inyosheriff contacted H-82 and requested, conditions permitting, the hiker be transported from the trail to safety. At 11:00 PM last night H-80 landed near Mirror Lake at 11,000 feet. With the help of fellow hikers and H-82’s crew, the hiker was treated and transported to a local hospital. Reminder: any one at any skill level can sustain injuries or encounter problems along the trail. Planning and preparation for the unexpected greatly increases the survivability of those situations. Have fun and be safe!

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
