Fellow Members,

As a member here on HST have had the privilege to meet
several members and feel that my life would be even more
enriched by meeting as many of you as possible. As a group
of Sierra loving beings we share so much in common that it
is a shame that many of us only know one another by their
screen names.
Would like to propose a meet-up in one of the prettiest basins
in the Sierra with plenty of room to accommodate a large group,
has sub-lime scenery for our photographers, numerous lakes
that contain delicious meaty trout to catch for our fishing persons,
and plenty of gorgeous peaks to climb for our peak-bagging
members.
Talking about Wallace/Wright Lakes Basin which can be reached
by using numerous trailheads, crosscountry routes, could also be
incorporated into ones High Sierra Trail or JMT plans, or part of
a longer trip to Upper Kern Basin or beyond.
Let's see how many are interested in meeting fellow members.
Yes we are a year away, but some folks start planning early and
may only have time for one big trip a year, Wallace Lake Basin
is definitely a worthy destination to be consider as that yearly trip.

I'd certainly be interested in meeting up. Pretty much the only thing missing from our JMT trip was meeting any HST members. We hit one of the Wright Lakes in passing. I'd love to visit the area again with more than just a few hours to do some exploring. Count me in.

I am interested as well; that area was on my list to get to this year but my work schedule doesn't allow for it. Maybe I'll have better luck next year. It would be nice to have faces for the names and get to know a few like-minded people

Hope your schedule will allow for it next year Brian. It should be on everyone's
list to visit at least once, and it is well worth the re-visit (numerous times), ask
any of us who have been lucky enough to explore these beautiful basins.

Fine idea maverick.

I had a 9-day early August trip planned over Shepherd Pass this year that I pushed out to the future because of the droughty conditions. One day would be on the south slopes of Bighorn Plateau in the Wrights Creek basin and another about the noname lakes west of Tawny Point. Could add a 10th day for the Wrights Lakes proper. Given a normal winter, ideally would expect the most aesthetic conditions a week or two later as those high altitudes melt out a bit late. Also mosquitoes may still be about that week as those areas in the upper Kern Basin have a lot of turf and marsh. The peak of wildflowers is most likely early August. In any case I would not be making a call to set dates in stone a year beforehand as will only buy into the strenuous effort if I am rather certain conditions are worth it.

Shepherd Pass, Whitney Portal, or even Cottonwood Lakes from the south
would be the closest trailed routes. Tyndall Col, Vacation Pass, or Russell
Col from the east would be the crosscountry passes.

Hi Dave,

Hoping for at least an average winter which would have the flowers at or close
to peak in the basin and along the creek. Yes, Bighorn and Twany re-visits are
on my list to while there. :)
