Mineral King to JMT?

Post by Eastside »

Anyone have info on connecting to the JMT from Mineral King? I'd like to cut through 9-lakes basin but I'm not sure if this is really feasible. I had planned on doing the traditional JMT route in Aug. but wasn't able to score a permit. Now I'm looking for alternatives.

Anything is feasible with the time and energy you need to do it. Black Rock pass is better in the morning tho.

Hopefully, you are going late enough that the passes will not be dangerous.

The fun part about alternates is finding a way to a trailhead you don't want to drive back to get your car. Mineral King is a long drive that many of my friends dislike. No shuttles.
