High elevation thunder storms

Post by overheadx2 »

I am headed up to Ram lakes this Thurs to do some fishing. The plan was to get acclimated the first day at Pika (altitude works me over the first day if I do to much) and then head over to Ram lakes and fish the basin for a few days. My ? is, since afternoon thunderstorms are coming for sure, I'd be interested to know what the experienced guys would do, camp in the open above the tree line at ram lakes or stay at purple or Virginia with everyone else and day hike up to Ram Basin? If you know your going to get lightning and thunder, do you change plans, or would you still set up at Ram Lakes or even a place like Mesa lake in Humphries?

Read this following thread, it has good advice: http://highsierratopix.com/community/vi ... ety#p58095" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

We'll be heading up that trail on Monday. If you're still on it, keep an eye out for the dog with the red pack and say hi.
