Sonora Pass
Has anybody been up to Sonora Pass? Curious as to the snow levels & was thinking about getting to Levitt Lake. Alternatively, my other option for this weekend is hiking out of Kennedy Meadows off 108 into Emigrant Wilderness. Has anyone been on that trail yet this year??

Re: Sonora Pass
Hi Gbskier,
Welcome to HST!
Sonora Pass is open but still has 5-6" of snow on the ground. Bridgeport Ranger says
there is around 1' of snow starting at around 8200 ft.
Creeks are running high and fast peak levels should be reached in 2-3 weeks.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Re: Sonora Pass
I am heading that way tomorrow, on what is supposed to be a backcountry ski trip. I have been tracking the snow by way of the remote sensors closely as I can. I went in that way in late april 2007 - a similar snow year - and walked to about 9000 feet before reaching skiable snow. I am expecting there is a little less snow this year than that, according to the sensors. So I'd guess you could get to Lunch Meadow before you hit solid snow, maybe all the way to Brown Bear Pass.
I know for a fact the trail is basically clear to Kennedy Lake:
