The last time that I was there, it was July 2019. My car has standard clearance (5.5"), and it made it without any problems. I had to take it really easy to step over the big rocks. Sometimes by late afternoon the parking lot fills up.

After Symmes creek, you go up to the ridge and then down the other side. At the low point, there is often a small stream. Then you climb back up to Mahogany Flat. Some people camp there near a stream, and it is about the only place to camp with any shade. I never found the washed out switchbacks to be any big deal.
