Due to recent growth of the SQF Complex Fire and the potential for evacuations of the gateway community of Three Rivers, several roads in Sequoia National Park will be closing at 6:00 am tomorrow, Monday September 14:

Generals Highway (Highway 198) between the Ash Mountain Entrance Station and Giant Forest
Crescent Meadow Road
Mineral King Road at the park boundary
South Fork Road at the park boundary
Due to these road closures, wilderness permits and reservations for entry into Sequoia National Park trailheads on 9/14 or after are cancelled through the end of the quota season on 9/19. Refunds will be issued for active reservations and permits. Trailheads in Kings Canyon National Park remain open at this time. The affected trailheads are:

Foothills (Ladybug, Garfield Grove, Middle Fork Kaweah, North Fork Kaweah)
Lodgepole (High Sierra Trail, Alta, Pear and Emerald Lakes, Twin Lakes)
Mineral King (Paradise Ridge, Atwell-Hockett, Tar Gap, Timber Gap, Sawtooth, Franklin, Farewell Gap, White Chief, Eagle Lake, Mosquito Lakes)

Sierra NF:
Bullfrog Fire burning in the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness
The Bullfrog is located forty-three miles northeast of Clovis, CA., on the eastern fringe of the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness west of Courtright Reservoir.
This fire is not related to the Creek Fire, it is a separate start discovered on September 09, 2020 at approximately 3:09 PM. It is being managed by the Sierra National Forest using a confine and contain strategy taking advantage of trails, natural features, and hand crews to fully suppress this fire. The Bullfrog Fire has burned 900 acres and is 0% contained. #BullfrogFire https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/7191/

Sequoia NP now totally closed. Just had Lodgepole CG reservations for this coming weekend cancelled on us.

Latest update at https://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/conditions.htm; no link directly to versioned/timestamped status, but atm it reads:

Closure of Sequoia National Park, including Moneral King, and all Sequoia and Kings Campgrounds

Sequoia National Park is implementing a full park closure at 6 am on September 15 in response to the Castle Fire on the SQF Complex. Many park staff have been evacuated from the area and for visitor and resource protection, park managers have decided to close all entrances to Sequoia National Park.

During this unprecedented fire year, park managers have had to evaluate how to best balance the responsibilities to the public as well as the mental welfare and physical safety of the staff. “With Three Rivers and the park headquarters under an evacuation notice, staff is focused on preparing to evacuate.” Acting Superintendent Lee Taylor “To ensure any pending evacuation goes as smoothly as possible we are closing the park to visitors.” Park managers send their sincere thanks and gratitude for the support received during this incident.

Kings Canyon National Park remains open at this time. Visitors will not be able to access Sequoia National Park from Highway 198 or Highway 180 out of Fresno. The Giant Forest and sequoia trees will be inaccessible to visitors. All park campgrounds will be closed with reservations cancelled and refunded. Mineral King Road remains closed at this time.
