Desolation W snow viewed from NE Tahoe rim trail, July 22

Post by wildhiker »

Day-hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail from Martis Peak Road up to Rose Knob Peak area in the northeast corner of Lake Tahoe up at 9k foot elevation on Saturday, July 22. Just tiny patches of snow on that south facing trail. Some slight haze (Detwiler fire smoke?), but there was still a pretty good view across the lake of the north sides of the peaks in Desolation Wilderness. Still a lot of snow up there - see photo below, which goes from Mt Tallac on the left to the Crystal Range on the right.
