SEKI Implements Stage 2 Fire Restriction

Post by maverick »

SEKI NPS:
It's hot and dry out there, and we all need to do our part to prevent unwanted ignitions! That's why, effective Tuesday, June 28th 2016, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are entering Stage 2 Fire Restrictions.

What this means for our visitors:

Wood or charcoal fires are prohibited in Buckeye Flat, Potwisha, and South Fork Campgrounds, as well as Ash Mountain and Hospital Rock Picnic Areas.

Gas, propane, alcohol (with and without a shutoff valve) and tablet/cube stoves are still permitted in all areas.

Smoking is prohibited below elevations of 6,000 feet, except within an enclosed vehicle, a building in which smoking is allowed, a campground or picnic area where wood and charcoal fires are allowed, or a designated smoking area.

Wood or charcoal fires are prohibited in wilderness areas below 6,000 feet. Year-round fire restrictions apply to specific wilderness sites, so please check with the Wilderness Office for specific location restrictions.

Thank you for helping us all stay safe this summer!

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.
