PCT/JMT Smoke Report?

We're hiking north from Cottonwood to Bishop Pass and South Lake starting next week. Any hint of what's been going on smoke-wise would be appreciated. Conditions change and I keep hearing stories of ash falling and smoke in the afternoon (so hike early!). Most of the news is north of where we're starting from and the winds from the fires seem to be headed from the SW going north. I'm really expecting possible dicey conditions in Bubbs Creek and LeConte Canyon.
