2014 Reality Check

Before heading out please check TR's here on HST, and other sites, to get quality intell
on backcountry conditions. The low snow/water levels here in California do not equal
little or no snow conditions in the Sierra. The media has been reporting the lowest
levels in years, but as you can deduce from recent TR's and photo's, there still is plenty
of snow in the backcountry of the Sierra, and backpackers should be prepared for
Sierra Spring like conditions and not Summer like conditions.

Yeah ive been pleasantly suprised by all the TRs lately. Hearsay from friends had me thiking everything was already drying out and that most hikes would require packing in gallons of water. Clearly thats not the case, not yet anyway.

Thanks Maverick

Wise words...(Today's hike pics) -
Recent snow (last week) dropped a lot of wet yucky stuff.
OK to travel mornings but 20 inches of post-hole grief above 9,000 when it warms up.
IE - afternoons suck...wait a week, will be better as -
Lakes are starting to thaw - Mary 1/2 open -

A little higher at George, still 95% ice -

Finally - some fish PO-rn. O:)
