1/2 - Mosquitoes were mostly absent except for the more swampy locations and sometimes at dawn/dusk.

Post by venturefar »

On my trip through Northern Yosemite along the PCT 6/18-6/21 the mosquitoes varied between a 3 and 4. The Stubblefield/Thompson area seemed a little worse.

Dinkey Lakes Wilderness 6/21-6/22

Post by Troutdog 59 »

Dinkey Lakes Wilderness - 6/21 & 6/22. 1 to 3 depending upon location & time of day. Mostly àbout a 1, but pretty annoying in the morning at Rock Lake. Breeze came up each day and put em down in afternoon :) . I will say the area was really dry for this time of year, and I would expect the Skeets will drop off dramatically in short order.

Hi Granite4brains,

PM sent.

I don't give out specific route information, my belief is that it takes away from the whole adventure spirit of a trip, if you need every inch planned out, you'll have to get that from someone else.

Little Lakes Valley 6/22-24
Treasure and Gem Lakes were a 3 but the wind kept the buggers at bay most of the time. They seemed to be getting worse as the days progressed.

Desolation Wldrns (Blakely trail to Lk Schmiddell) 6/18 & 6

Post by Kent »

The upper ~2/3 of the trail is about 3-4. They mostly let you walk through, but if you stop, they will immediately try to suck you dry!

The lake itself wasn't a problem at all.

Middle Velma Lk on M-Tu and again Th-F was a 2.
