Several photos from this month, and current conditions as of yesterday. It's not too late, the snow and wind did not destroy the lingering colors. And the weather this weekend should be perfect!

Bishop Creek Canyon yesterday was just jaw dropping, with masses of aspen glowing like fire against the freshly fallen snow. Leaves were gone once we got to South Lake, but our hike up to Bull and Chocolate was nearly all through the freshly fallen snow, a few drifts had me up to my knees.
Stupidly forgot my camera.

I believe the road is open to all 3 lakes, I only went to South Lake. Still several inches on the side of the road, and a thin layer on the mountain. The trail was very icy in many places; although I didn't see anyone else using microspikes. Maybe 5% was dry, a little mud, and lots of packed snow and ice. A few hikers told me they turned back before Bishop Pass because of the snow, but 2 backpackers headed out without any problems. The meadows around Long Lake were very squishy, like June but without the mosquitos. I felt lucky to have a set of footprints to follow for the climb to Chocolate Lake; there was a thin layer of ice around the shore. Driving back down I did not notice water running on the road from snowmelt. There was no wind, so hiking conditions were perfect. Hope you can all make it up while this color is hanging on.

My friend & I went over to Crowley Lake fishing this weekend from the bay area via highway 50 & monitor pass. The fall colors were awesome. I forgot how gorgeous fall in the eastern sierra was. this was the first trip over there in almost 15 years. If you like seeing the changing seasons, this is the time to go
