Hwy 4. Ebbetts Pass local story

My grandparents bought an old log range cabin right on the Mokelumne River in Hermit Valley (7,000 ft elev.) from the Stevenot family of Murphys in the early 1940's, that was built sometime in the 19-teens. We have made many improvements, but retains the look and feel or yore. See second pic below.

There was always a story about someone being shot in the cabin, but the details were sketchy. Finally a bit of research produced the following news story from 1926, see below. Anyway, just some local color.

Nice story, thanks for posting. I am in Reno and enjoy the plethora of stories from bygone eras. Mining and the associated lumber and waterworks are really interesting, especially in the late 1800s.
