Sierra Club Base Camp

Post by will_jrob »

I was perusing Yosemite and Its High Sierra , published about 1920, and saw several photos of a group climbing Mt. Lyell.

If I remember correctly, this is a group from a Sierra Club base Camp outing.I am wondering if anyone in this group (HST), or their parents, ever attended a Sierra Club Base Camp outing? I don't think they've been offerred since the '60's. I know they have a history of being responsible for some of the first ascents of the High Sierra's class 2 and 3 summits; sometimes being lead by Ansel Adams or Norman Clyde.
