When doing a part of the JMT in 2016, my wife and I spent the night at the backpacker camp at TM and had the opportunity to talk to a nice group of PCT hikers. Besides info about the trail, we were told about three things to watch out for on the trail: the party crowd (saw and heard them), naked hiking day (wife was disappointed not to see anyone) and trail tramps--people who lived off the generosity of others on the trail for, um, favors.
Had no idea this was a thing. Guess those with no job and no money still have "assets" on the trail
Have a favorite trail recipe or technique you'd like to share? Please do! We also like reviews of various trail food products out there. The Backcountry Food Topix forum is the place to discuss all things related to food and nourishment while in the Sierra wilderness (as well as favorite trail head eateries).

Hmmm, the worlds oldest profession on the PCT????
