What is up with the bot storms lately?

At this point, it appears to be pretty normal. Usually only lasts for a few days.

Might as well not show the stats anymore. They seem to be pushing 500-1000 every day.

I was able to track down and block a Chinese search engine crawler that's been part of, if not all of the problem.

I think we have some scam stuff today. Could you check it out? If I go to the post and notify this way, is there any chance my computer will get infected?

Hey WD. Sorry, I'm not following. What are you observing that leads you to believe there is scam stuff going on? A particular post? PM?
Unless someone posts/PMs you a bad link that you click on, there's no way this site will infect your computer.

The two posts have now been removed. Someone else must have done this. Thanks for the reassurance that flagging these posts will not infect my computer. It was in the backpacking sub-forum.

Oh, I see what you were asking now. No, using the "report this post" button is not only safe, its use is appreciated by the Admin/Mod team. When you do report a post, we get notified with a direct link to the post and it gets taken care of much more quickly.
